Application of Real-name Registration Programme for SIM Cards
According to the Telecommunications (Registration of SIM Cards) Regulation, staring from 1 Mar 2022, local pre-paid SIM card users (including voice, data and/or short message services (SMS) SIM cards) must complete real-name registration with their telecommunications service provider in order to activate or continue the use of SIM card service.
New pre-paid SIM card users

Support Service for Real-name Registration Provided by Post Offices


Starting from 30 May 2022, the Government sets up service counters at 18 designated post offices to provide free support service to assist members of the public to complete real-name registration of their PPS cards. Members of the public requiring assistance should visit the designated post offices in person and bring along the following items for registration -

  • Original HKID card
  • Mobile phone capable of receiving SMS notifications
  • PPS cards that are required to complete real-name registration (for PPS cards that are not in use, please bring together its package/jacket/card holder)

Note: A user who is aged below 16 years old has to be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or above for completing the registration, who will need to provide that adult’s personal information and original HKID card for registration at the same time.
